Training

Our experienced faculty and broad network bring innovative solutions to the challenges and opportunities facing K-12 schools in the 21st century. Our end goal is that every student in Washington has the chance to use the outdoors as a learning laboratory, and those students become the future stewards of our environment and communities.  Workshops and webinars are open to all formal and informal educators. Motivated students, especially those from schools participating in on-going monitoring projects, are encouraged and welcome to participate when appropriate. These students can then become mentors within their school. Professional development is offered through a variety of methods including webinars, in-person, and conference calls. Workshop and webinar availability varies.

The River Mile’s partner Pacific Education Institute provides the FREE clock hours for our educator training.  PEI provides educator professional development throughout Washington State to get students outdoors. PEI works with Washington’s education system, providing tools that meet current and developing state educational requirements, such as NGSS and Common Core and collaborating with School Districts to bring our broad suite of FieldSTEM® tools and resources to address the specific needs and goals of each district.

Each year new training is available based on feedback from the previous year’s participants. Workshops and training webinars come with free clock hours for Washington teachers, certificates of completion for Oregon teachers, and for teachers from other states let us know what you need and we will work with you to get you credit! College credit is also available for in-person training at the current fee. Workshop and webinar availability varies. Below are some of the opportunities.
